Dr. R. Pratap Chandran, Principal & Head
Dr. R. Pratap Chandran is working as the Principal and Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Research, K.V.M. College of Science and Technology. Dr. R. Pratap is an academician, researcher and good administrator with 21 years of experience in various capacities. He is also a member of Research Council and Visiting Scientist of Environmental Resources Research Center (ERRC), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He had his graduation in Microbiology from Madras University, Chennai, and post graduation in Microbiology from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Thirunelveli, Tamil Nadu and Ph.D. in Biotechnology from University of Kerala. In addition to this, he took MBA from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu, India. Dr. Pratap chandran was a fellow of Society of Environmental Science (F.S.E.Sc., 2009), Dumka, India and Society for Applied Biotechnology (FSAB), Karnataka, India. He is a life member many professional bodies such as Society for Biotechnologists (INDIA), Cochin University of Science and Technology, Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) initiative by CSIR, Government of India, Indian Association of Applied Microbiologists, Tamil Nadu, India, SASNET- Fermented Foods, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat, India, Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), Swadeshi Science Movement, Kerala, India, Biotech Research Society (BRSI), Kerala, India and Bioinformatics Organization, Inc, Massachusetts, U.S.A. He organized 10 national seminars and 1 international conference with foreign collaboration. He has made more than 25 research presentations in various national and international conferences and published more than 56 research articles in reputed national and international journals.
Dr. Rajesh B.R
Dr. Rajesh B.R is currently working as Associate professor in Department of Biotechnology and Research of KVM College of Science & Technology, Cherthala. He was awarded Ph.D in Biotechnology from University of Kerala in the year 2017. He completed his Masters degree from Mahatma Gandhi University in 2006 and Mphil from Bharatidasan University in 2008. He has more than 10 years of experience as a researcher and academician. Started his career as Research fellow in National Centre for Earth Science studies, Trivandrum and was part of many research projects. Also worked as a Senior research fellow in UGC major research project. Have equipped and expertise with various latest laboratory techniques which helps to produce successful results in research and development area and had in depth knowledge in handling various sophisticated laboratory equipments. He has exceptional organizational & problem-solving skills and actively involved in computation and interpretation of various research outcome & leading research assignments. He was an active member in organizing various national and international conferences. The main area of research interest includes Molecular Biology, Phytochemistry, Environmental Biology and Plant tissue culture. Had published/ presented 25 articles from his area of interest. He is serving as the Programme co-ordinator of National service scheme of KVM College of Science & Technology.
Mrs. Lekshmi R Nair
A dedicated educator working as an assistant professor with 10 years of experience in teaching postgraduate students in Biotechnology. Presently pursuing Ph.D. in Biotechnology. Holds Masters degree in Biotechnology from Anna University and Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Periyar University, Salem. Key responsibilities include teaching Analytical Techniques, Molecular Biophysics, Molecular Genetics, Enzymology, Molecular Biology, Biopharmaceuticals, Industrial Biotechnology and Plant Biotechnology for Post Graduate Students in Biotechnology , handling laboratory sessions in Biochemistry, enzymology etc, and helping students in their project works. Besides teaching, have actively contributed in conducting training programs and seminars. Have also performed the duties of assistant superindent in conducting university examinations.Areas of research interest includes Plant tissue culture and phytochemistry. Has authored one paper in National/International journal and 4 papers in the proceedings of National/international conferences.
Mrs. Mini Gopinathan
Mrs. Mini Gopinathan currently serves as Assistant professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Research at K.V. M College of Science and Technology. She joined K.V.M College of Science and Technology in August 2012 and has a teaching experience of 24 years. She has received her masters in Zoology from Sree Narayana College, Cherthala, Kerala University in 1991. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Education from Kerala University. She was awarded M. Phil. in Biotechnology from Karpagam University, Coimbatore in 2016. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Periyar University, Salem. She has enough background in education utilizing advanced teaching methodologies and teaching students to use laboratory equipments. She also guides the students in their project works. Her areas of research and interest include phytochemistry, environmental biotechnology and plant tissue culture.
Dr Anoop M.
Currently working as Associate Professor at KVM College of Science and Technology. He was Awarded Ph.D. from Mahatma Gandhi University in the year 2019. He Completed Masters degree from VIT University, Tamil Nadu in 2008 and B.Ed. from Kerala University in 2011. He also Achieved Diploma in Software Engineering certified by NIIT.He possesses more than ten years of experience as a Researcher and Academician. He started his Carrier as Lecturer in Biotechnology at SNGM Arts and Science College, Alappuzha, Kerala .He worked as Teacher in Biology at Sree Gokulam Public School Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram and pursues position of guest Faculty of General Science at NIMS Civil Service Academy, Neyyatinkara. He worked as convener and organized national and international conferences. His main areas of interest include Bio-degradation, Ethno pharmacology, Bio-statistics & Anti-ophidic research. He authored twelve research papers in National /International journals and eight papers in national /international conference proceedings
